Summary

From the international bestselling creator of Lost Ocean comes a beautiful new colouring book that takes you on a wondrous expedition through the jungle。

Follow ink evangelist and queen of adult colouring, Johanna Basford down an inky trail through Magical Jungle and discover a forgotten world of flora and fauna just waiting to be coloured in。 Through intricate pen and ink illustrations, colour-inners of all ages are invited to explore an exotic rainforest teeming with creatures large and small。 Encounter speckled tree frogs and dainty hummingbirds, prowling tigers and playful monkeys。 Let your imagination run wild in the leafy treetop canopy or find yourself drawn to the delicate world of sensational blossoms and tropical plants below。 There are ancient relics to be found along the way, each one leading toward the mystical treasure hidden at the heart of the magical jungle。 Only the bravest, most inquisitive colourers will discover what lies hidden at the end of this inky quest。

For Magical Jungle Johanna has picked a crisp ivory paper that accentuates and compliments your chosen colour palette。 The smooth, untextured pages allows for beautiful blending or gradient techniques with coloured pencils, or are perfect for pens, allowing the nib to glide evenly over the surface without feathering。

This is a beautifully illustrated book。 It's pages are full of delicate pictures of the jungle with animals hidden in the pictures。 I was coloring along and there she was a ladybug I had missed until almost the end。 There is a lot of fun to be had and hours of relaxation pouring throughout。 Get your pencils pens, markets or paints ready。 Here comes the jungle fun。 Yipee!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this adult coloring book! The pages are thick and sturdy。 The designs to color are fun and engaging。 Pictures are back to back which is the only drawback so you can't use anything that will bleed through。 I had mine spiral bound so the pages don't come loose。 Loving it! A nice nature colouring book for adults with plants, flowers, birds and animals。 For most of this illustrator's books you'll need a large array of the shades of green! I received this book a few months ago as a good reads giveaway in exchange for a review。 There is excellent detail throughout the artwork, and many pages to complete。 I'm only giving three stars because since it's a jungle theme it kind of limits the colors to use。 This was my first experience with an adult coloring book and I will buy some in the future。 I received this book a few months ago as a good reads giveaway in exchange for a review。 There is excellent detail throughout the artwork, and many pages to complete。 I'm only giving three stars because since it's a jungle theme it kind of limits the colors to use。 This was my first experience with an adult coloring book and I will buy some in the future。 。。。more

Very nice quality book。 Heavy weight paper perfect for even markers。 My only complaint is that it is printed on both sides, and I would imagine if you used markers on one side then turned over to color the opposite side, the 2nd print might be distorted from the wetness of the markers。 Also, if someone wanted to save both prints, you couldn't see both at the same time。 The print scale isn't so small that it becomes too busy。 Very nice quality book。 Heavy weight paper perfect for even markers。 My only complaint is that it is printed on both sides, and I would imagine if you used markers on one side then turned over to color the opposite side, the 2nd print might be distorted from the wetness of the markers。 Also, if someone wanted to save both prints, you couldn't see both at the same time。 The print scale isn't so small that it becomes too busy。 。。。more

Magical Jungle - Johanna Bashford (5 Stars ) This was another Beautiful coloring book from Johanna Bashford 。 I loved all the different jungle animals , foliage and Flowers displayed amongst the thick cream colored paper 。 Which made it easy to use colored pencils , water-colored pencils or gel pens without it coming through to the pictures on the other side of the page。

It's super great that the author added a "Color Palette Test Page" right before the detachable pages in the back but WHY NOT MAKE THE COLOR TEST DETACHABLE TOO? Do you know how many goddamn times I've had to flip through this book to find that page? A LOT。(I'd recommend Prismacolor pencils, but those fuckers are EXPENSIVE。 Use your patience and use a coupon/voucher。)(Another tip: DO NOT look at the example colorings on the author's website。 They will make you feel inadequate AF。) It's super great that the author added a "Color Palette Test Page" right before the detachable pages in the back but WHY NOT MAKE THE COLOR TEST DETACHABLE TOO? I received this book for free from Goodread's Giveaway。I only own one other adult coloring book but I feel as if I have done my fair share of research on what makes a coloring book excellent。There are some neat additional features that I haven't seen in other coloring books -A hidden animal game-A test page for colorsThere are perforated pages in the back with designs only on one side to share or display。 The rest of the pages towards the front are on both sides。 The paper is sturdy enough that I received this book for free from Goodread's Giveaway。I only own one other adult coloring book but I feel as if I have done my fair share of research on what makes a coloring book excellent。There are some neat additional features that I haven't seen in other coloring books -A hidden animal game-A test page for colorsThere are perforated pages in the back with designs only on one side to share or display。 The rest of the pages towards the front are on both sides。 The paper is sturdy enough that nothing should bleed through。As far as the designs go, the pages have a variety of difficult to them。 So if you're in the mood for tiny details, there's pages with that, if you need just some big areas to fill in, you can find that too。All in all, this is a great option especially if you love animals。 。。。more

Yet another beautiful book to add to my coloring book collection。 I love the whimsical illustrations which are best colored with pencil crayons。 I did discover watercolor pencil crayons this year and I may try them on this coloring book, just to shake things up。 If you have not yet had a chance to jump on the adult coloring book craze, Johanna Basford's books are beautifully done and perfect for all ages。 Yet another beautiful book to add to my coloring book collection。 I love the whimsical illustrations which are best colored with pencil crayons。 I did discover watercolor pencil crayons this year and I may try them on this coloring book, just to shake things up。 If you have not yet had a chance to jump on the adult coloring book craze, Johanna Basford's books are beautifully done and perfect for all ages。 。。。more

Magical Jungle: An Inky Expedition and Coloring Book for Adults by Johanna Basford is a wonderful introduction to the world of adult coloring books。 It contains pictures that are easy to see and color。 this is wonderful for those who have issues with seeing small pictures。 The pictures are of gorgeous flowers, foliage, tropical birds, animals, fish, reptiles, and insects。 I enjoyed this coloring book。I received this book thru a Goodreads give away。

Um。。 that I don’t know what half of these creatures and flowers are and that’s my own personal problem, obviously。 Other than that, nothing。 It’s great, much better then Lost Ocean that had quite a few pictures that were way too fiddly。Plus it has some coloring tips in the beginning and medium test page at the back, love those extras。 。。。more

Johanna's books are very popular and I have all three but I won't be buying anymore of her books。 They're beautiful and interesting but either the images are intensely small (and I prefer small, but some are even too small for my taste)。 The paper is special in this book, almost a light weight oak tag but。。。。I don't like the way it accepts colored pencils。 Perhaps gel pens would be better but pencils, not so much。 I use Faber-Castell and Caran d'Ache, Prisma and Verithins so my pencils are expen Johanna's books are very popular and I have all three but I won't be buying anymore of her books。 They're beautiful and interesting but either the images are intensely small (and I prefer small, but some are even too small for my taste)。 The paper is special in this book, almost a light weight oak tag but。。。。I don't like the way it accepts colored pencils。 Perhaps gel pens would be better but pencils, not so much。 I use Faber-Castell and Caran d'Ache, Prisma and Verithins so my pencils are expensive and yet, the outcome (to me) needs too much burnishing for my taste。 。。。more

The newest addition to Johanna's portfolio, and now。。。it's also in mine! Can't wait to get home and give this book a thorough look。 I also found a clip of Johanna talking about her process for making her books。 She showed some sketches and even answered questions from her fans (you should be able to find this on YouTube if you're interested)。 Super intriguing! You will not be disappointed :^)I must admit I could be a little biased with this adult coloring book due to the fact that I LOVE animals。 It contains a combination of remarkably detailed pictures that would take me a month to color to simpler ones that are just as magnificent。 Such as the picture below that took me a week to finish coloring; I know what you are thinking “You’re kidding me。 That Hippo picture took you a week!”。 I am still learning to color like an adult and not a four-year-old。 Therefore, I am learning with a little a little help from the author not only does Johanna Basford have skills in the drawing department, she also has an assortment of tutorial videos on YouTube that has been helpful in improving my coloring technique by shading, making things pop, and so much more。 I still need to get a blending pencil。Johanna is a genius when it comes to drawing。 Some examples of the pictures that are in this book is a Gecko made out of leaves and flowers, very cool; owls hidden within the foliage, which is what I see when you could see something entirely different due to the abstractness of the picture; and much more that will blow your mind。 As in the other books, as you color you have a mission to find hidden objects, in this case, it is animals。 Now I have to let you in on a secret at the end of the book there are pictures that are perforated and only one sided so if you want to frame them or do something else fun with them you have that option! I give it an A+ in adult coloring books。 “Thank you, Penguin publishing, for letting me give an honest review” 。。。more
